NZ Paragliding competition rules

General
Check the Forum on the web site in the week leading up to each competition for any important late notices. Competition rules require that every pilot shall fly with: emergency parachute;altimeter; helmet; protective backplate; UHF radio; GPS; and a current WOF.If you are flying in FAI recognised competitions (and want your points recorded by the FAI in the world rankings) you will need to have an FAI Sports Licence. The licence is valid for one year.

Craigieburn League


Dates: 1 -3 Nov.
Sites: Helicopter Hill; Mt Cheeseman Skifield
Cost:$15 includes maps, comp levy.
Accomodation: $25 per night at Snowline Lodge, Mt Cheeseman Skifield
Requirements: PG2 + 30 hours, WOF, GPS, Reserve, NZHGPA membership

Wanaka Paragliding Festival XC Open Competition

Note: This is not a league comp and points do not count towards the NZ ladder.
Dates: 27 - 31 December 2008.
Sites: Treble Cone, Long Gulley, Coronet Peak, Cardrona, Waiorau, Mt Roy
Requirements: PG2, Personal equipment needs to meet ALL requirements of NZHGPA league competitions except GPS.

NZ Paragliding Nationals 2009 (FAI Cat 2 comp)

Sites: Treble Cone, Waiorau, Long Gully, Hill End, Breast Hill, Coronet Peak
Requirements: PG2 + 40 hrs, FAI licence, Max 85 pilots.
Cost: Up to 1st November: $90, 1st November Onwards: $120, Includes maps, turnpoint list, $5 comp levy, prize giving function ( food, byo alcohol) Cat2 sanctioning and prizes.
